Meet the Team

Doug is passionate about seeing people flourish and nonprofits thrive through the joy of generosity. He’s served in stewardship and planned giving initiatives for more than 20 years helping donors and organizations realize the transformational potential an estate gift can have.

Doug lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with his wife and three daughters, and most winter weekends you’ll find him hitting the slopes in search of fresh pow to shred (translation: he’s skiing).

Helping people discover what’s possible gets Dan up in the morning. At Canopy, he blends his business, data analysis, marketing, and storytelling background to help nonprofits build and execute a plan that inspires their donors to leave a lasting legacy.

A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dan is married to the wonderful Melisa, the father of three fantastic young adults, and is waiting in hope for his beloved Chicago Cubs to win their next World Series.

One of the things Judy enjoys most about working for Canopy is reaching the “behind the scenes” donor who has given loyally and faithfully over many years. That descriptor fits her too. In her role, Judy ensures plans and processes run smoothly–and she’s our go-to problem solver when they need to get back on track.

A West Michigan native, she’s the mother of two, grandmother of four, and living the adventure as a full-time RV-er with her husband.

Leah is a connector. As the friendly voice on the other end of a phone call, email inquiry, or at Canopy’s conference booth, she brings together our planned giving know-how with an organization’s mission to help them catch the vision for what’s possible.

She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, where they hike, camp, cook, and search out really great coffee.

Whether she’s training a client’s advancement team or analyzing data, Janey’s thoughtful, strategic approach gives nonprofits the opportunity to foster deeper donor connections.

She works closely with her clients to analyze results and plan for what’s next. She’s also a runner, rock climber, and expert thrifter who makes her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Beth’s heart for service shines in every part of her work, from managing the smallest details to developing strong relationships with the nonprofits she serves. That commitment empowers her clients to reach their goals and sustain their mission.

A wife, mom, and grandma, Beth lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is working hard to convince her husband they need another puppy (or two!)

Amy is energized by coming alongside nonprofits and helping them thrive. At Canopy that looks like answering client questions, managing timelines and details, and inspiring donors with the planned giving content she writes.

She’s a Grand Rapids, Michigan native who enjoys hanging out with her husband and three teenage sons, is always buying food to feed those teenage sons, and loves all things old houses.

What excites Ellen the most about her work with Canopy is the ripple effect it has: serving clients and supporting their mission so they can, in turn, connect with their donors and grow their impact. Her keen eye for process improvement means we all do our work with maximum efficiency.

Ellen is married to her high school sweetheart, mom to a toddler, explorer of small towns in northern Michigan, and lover of Southern Gospel music.

Excel ninja, data whiz, mailing list guru—these are just some of the skills Lisa serves with every day. Her work ensures our clients are reaching just the right donors with just the right messages.

Powered by Diet Coke, Lisa lives in West Michigan with her husband and 5 kids, and also leads the children's ministry at her church.

Brian combines strategic leadership with an ability to build teams and systems to accomplish a vision. His background in innovative marketing and direct mail gives nonprofits the ability to connect more deeply with their donors and create more impact through their work.

Brian is married to Kristy, dad to four adult children, and enjoys trivia, traveling, and tools (ask him about his new saw!)
